El Verano is a small community in Sonoma Valley, California, United States. Its name comes from the Spanish words for "The Summer." It is a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's a specific area counted by the census, but it's not an officially incorporated city or town.
In 2010, about 4,123 people lived here. By 2020, the population was 3,867.
History
The name El Verano means "The Summer" in Spanish. For many years, El Verano and nearby places like Boyes Hot Springs were popular vacation spots. People came here from San Francisco and other areas. They enjoyed the natural geothermic hot springs, which are warm waters from deep underground. These resorts were popular until the mid-1900s.
Geography
El Verano is located in Sonoma County. It is a western suburb of the city of Sonoma. The community covers about 1.1 square miles (2.9 square kilometers) of land. There is no water area within its boundaries.

In 2010, the population of El Verano was 4,123 people. Most of the people, about 74.1%, were White. About 17.4% were from other races, and 4.7% were from two or more races. About 37.8% of the people identified as Hispanic or Latino.
Most people (99.5%) lived in regular homes. There were 1,466 households in total. About 38.9% of these households had children under 18 living there. The average household had about 2.80 people.
