Eldon is located east of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. You can find it where two main roads meet: U.S. Highway 62 and State Highway 51. The community might have been named after a place called Eldon, Illinois. There was a post office in Eldon from 1911 to 1936.

Eldon is found on the eastern side of Cherokee County, Oklahoma. It sits in a valley near the Baron Fork of the Illinois River. This river is a branch of the larger Illinois River.
Nearby Towns and Roads
U.S. Route 62 runs through Eldon. If you go west on this highway, you'll reach Tahlequah, which is about 8 miles away. If you head east, you'll travel about 20 miles to Westville, Oklahoma. Westville is close to the border of Arkansas.
State Highway 51 also passes through Eldon. If you take this highway southeast, you'll arrive in Stilwell, Oklahoma, which is about 16 miles away.
