Eldorado is a small place in Wisconsin, United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a city or town.
Eldorado is located in Fond du Lac County. It's about 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) east of a town called Rosendale. Eldorado has its own post office where people can send and receive mail. The special code for its post office is 54932.
History of Eldorado's Name
The area where Eldorado is now has a long history. A post office first opened here in 1856. Back then, it was called North Lamartine.
Later, in 1870, the name of the post office changed. It became known as Eldorado Mills. Finally, in 1883, the name was shortened to just Eldorado.
It's interesting to know that there was another post office nearby with a similar name. It was called El Dorado until 1882. This other post office was about 3.5 miles (5.6 kilometers) north and east of the current Eldorado. It was later renamed Kirkwood Post Office and operated from 1882 to 1899.
