Early Life and Discovery

Elina Born was born on June 29, 1994, in Lehtse, Estonia. A famous Estonian musician, Stig Rästa, found Elina on YouTube. She was singing a song by Christina Aguilera. Stig was very impressed by her voice and musical talent. Elina was at school when Stig sent her a message on Facebook. She later said she was so surprised she cried. It took her a few days to reply to him.

Career

Becoming a Superstar: 2012–2013

In 2012, Elina Born joined a TV show called Eesti otsib superstaari. This show looks for the best singer in Estonia. Elina did very well in the competition. She made it through many rounds, including auditions and studio performances. She reached the Super Final, which is the very last round. Elina finished as the runner-up, coming in second place. The winner was Rasmus Rändvee.

After the TV show, Elina Born took part in Eesti Laul 2013. This is a music competition in Estonia that chooses the country's song for Eurovision. She sang her first single, "Enough". This song was written by Stig Rästa and Fred Krieger. Elina made it to the final round of Eesti Laul and finished in 8th place.

Eurovision and Beyond: 2014–Present

Elina Born returned to Eesti Laul in 2015. This time, she teamed up with Stig Rästa. They performed the song "Goodbye to Yesterday". They competed in the semi-final of Eesti Laul 2015 on February 14, 2015. They did well and moved on to the final.

In the final, which was on February 21, 2015, their song was chosen to represent Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. At the Eurovision final, Elina and Stig finished in 7th place. They earned a total of 106 points.

Two years later, in 2017, Elina tried again in Eesti Laul 2017. She sang a song called "In or Out". This song was written by Stig Rästa, Vallo Kikas, and Fred Krieger. She reached the final round but finished in 10th place.
