The Eurovision Song Contest 2015 was a huge music event! It was the 60th time this contest happened. The show took place in Vienna, Austria. Austria got to host because Conchita Wurst won for them in 2014.

Forty countries joined the fun that year. Australia even participated for the very first time! They were a special guest for the 60th anniversary. Ukraine didn't join this year. But Cyprus, Czech Republic, and Serbia all came back to the contest.

The Contest Begins

The Eurovision Song Contest is split into three main parts. There are two Semi-Finals, and then the big Grand Final. Countries compete in the Semi-Finals to earn a spot in the Grand Final. Some countries, like the "Big Five" (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom) and the host country, automatically get a spot in the Grand Final.

First Semi-Final

The first Semi-Final happened on Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Sixteen countries performed their songs. Only ten of them made it through to the Grand Final. Countries like Austria, France, and Spain also voted in this Semi-Final.

Second Semi-Final

The second Semi-Final took place on Thursday, May 21, 2015. Seventeen countries competed in this show. Just like the first Semi-Final, only ten countries moved on to the Grand Final. Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom also voted in this Semi-Final.

The Grand Final

The Grand Final was the big show! It happened on Saturday, May 23, 2015. All the qualified countries, plus the "Big Five" and the host country, competed for the trophy.

Sweden won the contest with their song "Heroes" by Måns Zelmerlöw! They scored an amazing 365 points. It was a tough competition, but Sweden came out on top. Sadly, Austria and Germany both finished last with zero points.
