Måns Zelmerlöw (born 13 June 1986) is a famous Swedish singer and TV host. He first became known after joining Idol 2005, a singing competition. He also won the first season of Let's Dance.
Måns is well-known for his hit song "Cara Mia" from 2007. He has hosted the popular Swedish show Allsång på Skansen. In 2015, he won Melodifestivalen with his song "Heroes". This win allowed him to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. He won Eurovision with a high score of 365 points. The next year, he co-hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm. Måns will also compete in Melodifestivalen 2025 with a new song called "Revolution".

Early Life and School
Måns Zelmerlöw was born in Lund, a city in southern Sweden. His mother, Birgitta Sahlén, is a professor at Lund University. His father, Sven-Olof Zelmerlöw, is a surgeon.
Måns studied music in high school in Lund. He was also part of a school choir. In 2002, he acted in the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He played one of the brothers in the show.
Måns's Career Journey
2005: Starting with Idol
Måns Zelmerlöw first appeared on TV in 2005. He joined the second season of Idol, a Swedish singing show. He finished in fifth place in the competition. Måns was eliminated after eight weeks on the show.
2006: Dancing and Musicals
In 2006, Måns took part in the first season of Let's Dance. He danced with his partner Maria Karlsson. They won the competition, beating singer Anna Book in the final.
That same year, Måns also starred in the Swedish musical Grease. He played the main character, Danny Zuko. After this, he signed a record deal to release his own music.
2007–2008: First Album and Melodifestivalen
In 2006, Måns announced he would compete in Melodifestivalen 2007. This is Sweden's contest to pick a song for the Eurovision Song Contest. He sang "Cara Mia" and reached the final. He finished in third place.
"Cara Mia" became a popular single. Soon after, Måns released his first album, Stand by For.... The album became number one in Sweden. It sold so well that it was certified platinum.
In 2007, Måns hosted Lilla Melodifestivalen, a music show for younger singers. He also acted in the musical Footloose. In 2008, he went on a music tour called Diggiloo.
2009: Second Album and Melodifestivalen Again
Måns returned to Melodifestivalen in 2009 with the song "Hope & Glory". He made it to the final again. His song finished in fourth place.
In 2009, Måns released his second album, MZW. This album also reached number one on the Swedish charts. He then went on a summer tour in Sweden.
2010–2011: Hosting Big Shows
In 2009, Måns was chosen to host Melodifestivalen 2010. He hosted the show with Dolph Lundgren and Christine Meltzer. He performed songs during the show's opening acts.
In 2011, Måns became the host of Allsång på Skansen. This is a very popular outdoor singing show in Sweden. He also hosted the show in 2012.
2013–2014: Barcelona Sessions
In 2013, Måns shared plans for his third album, Barcelona Sessions. He released a new song called "Broken Parts". He also performed other new songs on TV. The album was released in February 2014.
Måns hosted Allsång på Skansen again in the summer of 2013. He announced he would leave the show after that season. He also helped write a song for Melodifestivalen 2013. In late 2013, he starred in a Swedish musical called Spök.
2015–2016: Eurovision Win and Perfectly Damaged

In 2015, Måns competed with his song "Heroes". He won the final with a high score of 288 points. This meant he would represent Sweden at Eurovision.
His fourth album, Perfectly Damaged, was released in June 2015. Many people thought Måns would win the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. He performed "Heroes" in the second semifinal and came in first place. Måns then won the Eurovision final, scoring 365 points.
After Eurovision, he performed at music festivals in Sweden and Finland. He also went on a European tour. In 2016, he visited Shanghai, China, to promote his album. He also performed in Australia with singer Guy Sebastian.
In May 2016, Måns co-hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm. He hosted with Swedish TV presenter Petra Mede. During the shows, Måns performed "Heroes" and his new song "Fire in the Rain". He also did funny musical sketches with Petra Mede.
2016–2018: Chameleon Album
Måns Zelmerlöw's seventh album, Chameleon, came out in December 2016. The first song from the album was "Hanging on to Nothing". A French version of the song was also released.
In 2017, Måns was a TV commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. He also appeared in a fun sketch with the show's hosts. In 2018, he co-hosted the BBC show Eurovision: You Decide in the UK. He sang a mix of ABBA songs to open the show.
His song "Happyland" from the Chameleon album was used in commercials. It was chosen by the company Kinder to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
2019–2022: Time Album and More TV
In February 2019, Måns co-hosted Eurovision: You Decide again. He performed a musical history of British Eurovision moments.
On March 1, 2019, Måns released the song Walk With Me with Swedish singer Dotter. He also announced new songs like Better Now.
During the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, Måns performed a cover of "Fuego". He released his version of the song on iTunes.
His eighth album, Time, was released on October 18, 2019. The song One was released as a single from the album. In late 2019, Måns performed in a Christmas show in Stockholm.
In 2020, Måns was a judge for Eurovision: Australia Decides. He also performed "Walk With Me" with Australian singer Dami Im. At Melodifestivalen 2020, he sang a duet and was added to the Melodifestivalen Hall Of Fame.
Måns also released the song Gamle Dager with Morgan Sulele. In 2021, he teamed up with Polina Gagarina for the official song of the 2021 World Figure Skating Championships. The song was called Circles and Squares.
He hosted the final of Melodifestivalen 2021. He also performed his song ‘Come Over Love’. Since 2021, Måns has been a permanent judge on the Swedish TV show Masked Singer Sverige.
In 2022, Måns took part in the Swedish TV show "Så Mycket Bättre". In this show, singers perform each other's songs. He released four new songs from his performances. Måns also went on a Christmas tour called "A Grand X-mas" with Swedish singer Carola. They released a Christmas song together called "Let's Sing (It's Christmas Time)".
2023–Present: New Music and Hosting
In January 2023, Måns hosted Idrottsgalan, a big Swedish sports awards show. He hosted it live from Avicii Arena in Stockholm.
In 2023, Måns was a co-host of the Eurovisioncast podcast for BBC Sounds. He also helped commentate on the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 for Swedish TV.
On October 13, 2023, Måns and his band, The Agreement, released their first EP called ‘Nightcaps’. It included songs like ‘Andetag’ and ‘Running Low’.
In winter 2023, Måns released a Christmas song, "Christmas Christmas Everywhere". He also reunited with comedian Per Andersson for a new Christmas show.
In January 2024, Måns hosted the Idrottsgalan again. In March 2024, he appeared at the Melodifestivalen final. He was part of a special boy band called Björnzone. They performed their song "Still The One".
Måns will compete in Melodifestivalen 2025 with his new song “Revolution”. This will be his 20th year as an artist.
Personal Life
Måns Zelmerlöw has one younger sister. He enjoys playing padel, football, tennis, and golf.
On December 26, 2004, Måns and his family were on holiday in Khao Lak, Thailand. They survived the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami.
Måns started dating British actress Ciara Janson in 2016. They later got engaged. In December 2017, Måns announced they were expecting a child. Their first son was born on May 25, 2018. The couple got married on September 5, 2019. On August 9, 2022, Måns announced they had welcomed their second son. The family lives in Surrey, near London.
In July 2024, Måns opened a coffee and wine trailer called Beans and Grapes. It is located in Båstad, Sweden.
