A Look at Staffanstorp's Past
Staffanstorp was first mentioned as a village in the 1300s. For a long time, it stayed a small place. Bigger towns like Lund, Dalby, and Malmö were much more important. In the 1800s, Staffanstorp had an inn and a small local jail. The jail only had two cells.
In the 1970s, Staffanstorp hosted its first Housing Trade Show. This event showed off 43 furnished homes. About 100,000 people paid to visit it. The most recent show was in 1997, with 25 homes on display.
In the 1990s, the town center was redesigned. It was inspired by a style called "New Urbanism." Older buildings from the 1960s were updated. They got new roofs, new fronts, and more floors. Some new multi-story buildings were also added. These were built where the local sports stadium used to be. The roads in the center were also changed. This was done to make cars drive slower. It also helped to keep cars from driving through the very center of town.
