Staffanstorp Municipality (which is Staffanstorps kommun in Swedish) is a local government area in southern Sweden. It is located in Scania County. The main town and administrative center of the municipality is Staffanstorp.
This municipality was created in 1952. Before that, there were 12 smaller areas, which had been formed from old church parishes in 1863. These 12 areas were joined together to make the Staffanstorp Municipality we know today. A later change in 1971 did not affect its size.
Two towns in the municipality, Staffanstorp and Hjärup, have grown into suburbs of the larger city of Malmö. Staffanstorp has about 14,800 people, and Hjärup has about 4,000. Both are mostly residential areas, with many family houses built in the second half of the 1900s. Most people living here travel to work in nearby cities like Lund and Malmö.
