Allsång på Skansen (which means Sing-along at Skansen) is a super popular Swedish TV show. It happens every summer on Tuesdays at Skansen, an open-air museum in Stockholm. The show encourages everyone in the audience to sing along! They sing well-known Swedish and international songs with special musical guest stars.
The show started way back in 1935. Back then, it was quite small, with only about 50 people watching. Today, it's a huge event! About 10,000 to 25,500 people come to each live performance.
Since August 3, 1979, the show has been broadcast by Sveriges Television (SVT). At first, about 300,000 people watched it on TV. When Lasse Berghagen became the host, the number of viewers grew a lot. It reached about 2 million people! In 2003, Allsång på Skansen was the first SVT show to be broadcast with special 5.1 multichannel sound. In 2007, it was one of the first Swedish live shows shown in high-definition television (HD). The live show lasts for 90 minutes, but only one hour is shown on SVT1. Viewers can watch the whole show online on SVT Play.
