Zara Maria Larsson (born 16 December 1997) is a Swedish singer and songwriter. She became famous in 2008 after winning the second season of Talang, which is the Swedish version of the Got Talent TV show.
Later, she became known around the world with hit songs like "Lush Life" (2015), "Never Forget You" (2015), "Girls Like" (2016) with Tinie Tempah, and "Symphony" (2017) with Clean Bandit.
In 2012, Zara signed with TEN Music Group. She then released her first music collection, an extended play (EP) called Introducing, in January 2013. The song "Uncover" from this EP became very popular in Scandinavia. It reached number one on the charts and was certified 6 times Platinum in Sweden. Her first full album, 1, came out in 2014.
After her early success in Scandinavia, Zara signed a three-year deal with Epic Records in the United States. Her first international album, So Good, was very successful and was released in March 2017. Zara's third album, Poster Girl, came out in March 2021. Her fourth album, Venus, was released on 9 February 2024.

Early Life and Education
Zara Maria Larsson was born in Solna, Stockholm, Sweden. Her parents are Agnetha and Anders Larsson. She has a younger sister named Hanna, who is also a singer in the band Lennix.
Zara has said that she wanted to be "immortal" like Elvis Presley since she was five years old. She was inspired by singers like Carola Häggkvist and Whitney Houston.
She went to Gubbängsskolan for primary school. Later, she transferred to the Royal Swedish Ballet School. She also attended Kulturama, an art school in Stockholm.

2008–2011: Starting Her Career

Zara Larsson won the 2008 season of Talang when she was 10 years old. She won 500,000 Swedish kronor. The song she sang in the final, "My Heart Will Go On" (originally by Celine Dion), was released as her first single. It reached number seven on the Swedish Singles Chart.
Between 2009 and 2010, Zara was part of a TV show called Jag ska bli stjärna (meaning "I shall become a star"). She traveled to Los Angeles to meet with big record companies like Disney, Universal Music Group, Sony Music, and Warner Music Group. However, she didn't get a contract at that time because she was still very young.
2012–2014: First Big Success with 1

In 2012, Zara signed with TEN Music Group. Her first EP, Introducing, was released on 21 January 2013. It had five original songs. "Uncover" was the main single from the EP. It quickly became number one in Sweden and Norway, and number three in Denmark. By February 2013, the song was certified platinum in Sweden.
In July 2013, Zara received a 3x platinum award for Introducing. This meant it had sold over 120,000 copies in Sweden. On 3 April 2013, Zara announced that she had signed a three-year contract with Epic Records in the United States.
On 11 December 2013, Zara performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo. Her first full album for Scandinavia, 1, was released on 1 October 2014. It included "Uncover" and other popular songs. The album also went platinum in Sweden. Zara also opened for British singer Cher Lloyd on her I Wish Tour.
2015–2017: Global Fame with So Good
On 15 January 2015, Zara released Uncover, her first international EP. This EP featured songs from her earlier album 1.
On 5 June 2015, she released "Lush Life". This song became her second number one hit in Sweden and was certified 4x platinum. It also reached the top five in 18 other countries.
On 22 July 2015, Zara released "Never Forget You" with British singer MNEK. This song became number one in Sweden and reached the top five in the UK.

In February 2016, Zara was featured on Tinie Tempah's song "Girls Like". She also sang on the official song for UEFA Euro 2016, "This One's for You" with David Guetta.
On 1 September 2016, Zara released "Ain't My Fault". In October 2016, Time magazine named her one of the "30 Most Influential Teens of 2016". She released "I Would Like" on 11 November 2016, which reached number two in the UK.
In January 2017, Zara released "So Good" featuring American singer Ty Dolla Sign. Her second album, also called So Good, came out on 17 March 2017. It was her first international album. The album also included "Symphony" by Clean Bandit featuring Zara Larsson. This song became her fifth number one hit in Sweden and her first number one in the UK. The album was very successful, reaching the top ten in many countries.
2017–2022: Poster Girl Era
In September 2017, Zara started working on her third album. She performed again at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in December 2017.
In January 2018, Forbes magazine included Zara in their "30 Under 30 Europe" list for entertainment.
In September 2018, Zara announced "Ruin My Life" as the first single from her third album. It was released on 18 October 2018 and became very popular worldwide. In 2019, she released "Don't Worry Bout Me" and "All the Time". She also released "Wow".
In November 2019, Zara's song "Invisible" was released. It was from the 2019 movie Klaus, which was the first original animated film on Netflix.
In March 2020, Zara was featured on Kygo's song "Like It Is". In July 2020, she released "Love Me Land". She announced that her new album, Poster Girl, would be released after 2020.
Poster Girl was released on 5 March 2021. It received good reviews and debuted at number three on the Swedish Albums Chart. In May 2021, Zara released a summer edition of Poster Girl. She also performed songs at a virtual party on Roblox.
In April 2022, Zara released "Words" with Swedish DJ Alesso. This song was also successful in Europe.
In June 2022, Zara announced that she had left TEN Music Group to start her own record label called Sommer House. This meant she now owned the rights to her music. She also renewed her contract with Epic Records.
2023–Present: Venus Album
On 27 January 2023, Zara released "Can't Tame Her". This was the first song from her fourth album, Venus. She then released "End of Time" in May 2023. The third song from the album, "On My Love", was released in September 2023 with French DJ David Guetta.
On 26 October 2023, Zara officially announced Venus. She also released a holiday EP called Honor the Light in December 2023. On 19 January 2024, she released "You Love Who You Love". Venus was released on 9 February 2024 and received positive reviews.
In May 2023, Netflix Nordic announced a new film called A Part of You. Zara Larsson is one of the main actors in this film, which was released on May 31st, 2024.
Other Work and Views
In 2015, Zara hosted a summer speech on Sveriges Radio, a Swedish radio station. She was 17, making her the youngest person to give such a speech. In her speech, she talked about her life, her music, and her belief in equal rights for everyone.
Zara has also worked with H&M. In May 2017, she released an H&M clothing collection. She helped design the clothes, choosing colors and styles. Pink was a common color in the collection.
Zara is open about her views on social issues. She believes in equal rights for all people. She has said that her parents taught her to speak up about important topics.
