Elizabeth had several brothers. Her full brothers were David Stewart, Earl of Strathearn and Walter Stewart, Earl of Atholl. She also had a half-brother, Robert III of Scotland, who later became king after their father.

Marriage and Royal Life

On February 22, 1375, Princess Elizabeth married David Lindsay. When she married, she brought a special gift called a dowry. Her dowry was the land of Strathnairn, located in Inverness-shire.

In 1398, Elizabeth's father, King Robert II, gave David Lindsay an important title. He became the Earl of Crawford. This meant David was a powerful noble in Scotland. It is believed that Elizabeth and David lived at Crawford Castle.

  • David Lindsay, Lord of Newdosk, born in 1407. He later became a priest.
  • Elizabeth Lindsay, who married Sir Robert Keith.
  • Another Elizabeth Lindsay, also born in 1407. She married Robert Erskine, the first Lord Erskine. Historians think this might be the same Elizabeth as her sister, or perhaps they were two different people with the same name.
  • Isabella Lindsay, born in 1407. She married Sir John Maxwell of Pollok and had children.
