About Elk Mountain
Elk Mountain reaches an elevation of 11,162 feet (3,402 meters) above sea level. It is known for its prominence, which means it rises very high above the land around it. In fact, it is the 8th most prominent mountain in the entire state of Wyoming. This makes it easy to see from far away.
Radio Station on the Summit
A radio station named KBDY has a broadcasting tower right on the top of Elk Mountain. Because the mountain is so high, the station can send its signal over a very large area. Even with only 630 watts of power, the signal reaches many places. This shows how useful a tall mountain can be for broadcasting.
