Sir Elliott Fitzroy Belgrave (born 16 March 1931) is a retired judge from Barbados. He served as the seventh governor-general of Barbados from June 1, 2012, to June 30, 2017.
Before becoming Governor-General, he worked as an acting Governor-General from November 1, 2011, to June 1, 2012. This was after the previous Governor-General, Clifford Husbands, retired. In May 2012, the Prime Minister of Barbados announced that Sir Elliott Belgrave would become the official Governor-General.

They perform important duties, like opening Parliament and approving laws. In Barbados, the Governor-General represents Elizabeth II, the Queen of the United Kingdom.
Education and Career Highlights
Sir Elliott Belgrave studied law at University College London in 1962. Later, he earned another degree in Criminology from Darwin College, Cambridge in 1979.
He held several important legal positions in Barbados. He was the Director of Public Prosecutions, which means he was in charge of legal cases brought by the government. He also served as a judge in the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal of Barbados.
Sir Elliott Belgrave was recognized for his contributions to the legal system in Barbados. He received the Companion of Honour of Barbados award. In December 2016, it was announced that he would soon retire from his role as Governor-General.
Personal Life
Sir Elliott Belgrave is married to Loretta Belgrave. They have one daughter named Susan Matheson.
He is also a Freemason. This is a member of a fraternal organization that focuses on moral and personal development.
Awards and Honours
Sir Elliott Belgrave has received several special awards for his service:
