Elmarie Louise Wendel (born November 23, 1928 – died around July 21, 2018) was an American actress and singer. She was most famous for her role as Mamie Dubcek on the funny TV show 3rd Rock from the Sun.
Early Life and Beginnings
Elmarie was born on a farm in Howard County, Iowa. She was one of five children. Her parents were musicians, so Elmarie spent her childhood traveling with them. She and her sisters danced in clubs and concert halls across the Midwest. They even performed at the famous Grand Ole Opry.
Later, Elmarie moved to New York City. There, she acted in many plays. One of her first big roles was in the 1959 show Little Mary Sunshine.
Acting Career Highlights
Elmarie joined a traveling show of the musical Annie. This show took her to Los Angeles, California. In Los Angeles, she started acting in movies and on television.
Her most well-known role was as the quirky Mrs. Dubcek on 3rd Rock from the Sun. She appeared in about 70 episodes of this show from 1996 to 2001.
Elmarie also made guest appearances on many other popular TV shows, including:

Elmarie Wendel's daughter, J.C. Wendel, is also an actress. Elmarie passed away around July 21, 2018. Her daughter shared the news on social media. At the time of her death, Elmarie lived in Studio City, California.
