Where is Elvetham Heath?

Elvetham Heath was built on land that used to be a pine forest and open heathland. It sits between the M3 motorway and the main railway line that connects London and Southampton. It's about 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Fleet town centre. This area was once called Railroad Heath and was part of a large estate called the Calthorpe Estate.

London is further away, about 37 miles (60 km) to the northeast. The neighborhood is also very close to the M3 motorway, making it easy to travel by car. Fleet railway station is also nearby, about 1.2 miles (1.9 km) from the center of Elvetham Heath.

Elvetham Heath Nature Reserve

Elvetham Heath is home to a special place called the Elvetham Heath Local Nature Reserve. This reserve is managed by Hart District Council. Their goal is to help the land return to its natural state as a heathland, with some marshy areas.

This nature reserve is a great place for wildlife. You might spot animals like slowworms (which are legless lizards), other types of lizards, and colorful dragonflies. During the summer and autumn, you might even see rare types of cattle grazing in the reserve. They help to keep the plants under control, which is good for the heathland environment.
