Embarcadero West, also known as 275 Battery Street, is a very tall office building in San Francisco, California. It has 30 floors above ground and three floors underground. This skyscraper is about 123.1 m (404 ft) (or 404 feet) high!
The building is located in the Financial District. This is a busy part of San Francisco where many businesses and banks are located. Embarcadero West was finished in 1989. It is part of a bigger group of buildings called the Embarcadero Center. This center includes five office towers and two hotels. Even though it's part of the center, Embarcadero West is not physically connected to the other buildings.
Building History
Embarcadero West has been owned by different companies over the years. In December 2005, a company called Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA-CREF) bought the building. They paid more than $205 million for it.
Later, in October 2014, TIAA-CREF sold the building to another company called Rockpoint Group. Rockpoint Group bought it for about $307 million. This shows how valuable a big building like Embarcadero West can be!
Who Works Here?
Many different companies and organizations have offices inside Embarcadero West. For example, the Consulate General of Japan has offices here. A consulate is like an embassy, but for a city instead of a whole country. It helps people from Japan who are visiting or living in San Francisco.
Several law firms also have their offices in this building. These include Crowell & Moring, Gordon & Rees, Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, and Squire Patton Boggs.
