Television Appearances
On television, Emily Meade had a supporting role in the first season of the HBO drama The Leftovers. She received a lot of praise for her performance as a character named Lori Madison in HBO's The Deuce. The show's creator, David Simon, even said her acting was "one of the best I ever got on a show."
Promoting Safety on Set
After 2017, there was a lot of discussion in the film industry about making sure actors feel safe and respected, especially during sensitive scenes. Emily Meade was one of the first actors to ask for special support to ensure everyone's well-being on set. This led to the idea of having an intimacy coordinator present during filming. An intimacy coordinator helps make sure that actors are comfortable and that their agreements about intimate scenes are respected. This is very important because sometimes young or new actors might find it hard to speak up if they feel uncomfortable.
