David John Franco (born June 12, 1985), known as Dave Franco, is an American actor and filmmaker. He started his career with small roles in movies like Superbad (2007). He also appeared in the last season of the TV comedy Scrubs (2009–2010).
Dave Franco became more well-known after his role in the comedy film 21 Jump Street (2012). He has also starred in many other popular films. These include Fright Night (2011), Now You See Me (2013), and Neighbors (2014). In 2020, he directed his first movie, The Rental, which starred his wife, Alison Brie.

Early life and acting start
Dave Franco was born in Palo Alto, California. His mother, Betsy Lou, is a poet and author. His father, Douglas Eugene Franco, ran a nonprofit business. Dave grew up with his two older brothers, James and Tom. Both of his brothers are also actors.
He went to the University of Southern California. At first, he wanted to be a high school teacher for creative writing. But his brother James's manager suggested he try an acting class. That's how he started learning to act.

In 2006, Dave Franco began his acting career on the TV show 7th Heaven. He also appeared in other TV shows like Do Not Disturb. He had roles in movies such as Superbad.
In 2009, Franco joined the cast of the ABC sitcom Scrubs. He played Cole Aaronson in all thirteen episodes of the ninth season. Critics praised his acting in the show.
Becoming a movie star in the 2010s
In 2011, Franco starred in the horror-comedy film Fright Night. He acted alongside Colin Farrell and Toni Collette. The movie was a remake of an older film and did well at the box office.
In 2012, Franco starred in the action-comedy movie 21 Jump Street. This film was based on a TV series from the 1980s. The next year, he was in the zombie romance film Warm Bodies. He also appeared in the crime thriller Now You See Me. In this movie, he showed off his card-throwing skills.
In 2014, Franco acted in the comedy Neighbors with Seth Rogen. He also had a small part in 22 Jump Street. For Neighbors, he won an MTV Movie Award for Best On-Screen Duo with Zac Efron.
In 2016, he returned for the sequels Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and Now You See Me 2. The next year, he was in the comedy The Little Hours. He also starred in The Disaster Artist, which his brother James directed. In this film, Dave played Greg Sestero, a young actor.
In 2018, Franco starred in the drama 6 Balloons for Netflix. He also had a small role in If Beale Street Talk. In 2019, he appeared in Zeroville and the action-thriller 6 Underground.
Directing and recent projects in the 2020s
In 2020, Dave Franco directed his first movie, a horror-thriller called The Rental. He also wrote the screenplay for the film. It starred Alison Brie, Dan Stevens, and Jeremy Allen White.
In 2022, Franco was part of the main cast for the Apple TV+ mystery comedy series The Afterparty.

Dave Franco started dating actress Alison Brie in 2012. They got engaged in August 2015. On March 13, 2017, they got married in a private ceremony. Dave Franco is Jewish.
