Alison Brie Schermerhorn (born December 29, 1982) is an American actress, writer, and producer. She is known for her roles in popular TV shows like the comedy Community and the drama Mad Men. She also voiced Diane Nguyen in the animated series BoJack Horseman and starred as wrestler Ruth Wilder in GLOW.
Brie has appeared in many movies, including Scream 4 (2011), The Five-Year Engagement (2012), and The Post (2017). She is also the voice of Princess Unikitty in The Lego Movie film series. In addition to acting, she has written, produced, and starred in her own films, such as Horse Girl (2020) and Somebody I Used to Know (2023).

Early life and education
Alison Brie Schermerhorn was born on December 29, 1982, in Hollywood, California. Her father is a musician and entertainment reporter, and her mother works for a non-profit organization that helps children. She has an older sister named Lauren.
Brie's mother is Jewish, and her father was raised Catholic. Growing up, she learned about both heritages. She graduated from South Pasadena High School in 2001. During one summer, she worked as a clown named Sunny for children's birthday parties.
After high school, Brie studied acting at the California Institute of the Arts. She earned a bachelor's degree in theater in 2005. She also spent a year studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow.
Career
Brie started her acting career on stage at the Jewish Community Center in Southern California. Her first TV role was in 2006 on the Disney Channel show Hannah Montana. She gained more attention playing Trudy Campbell in the drama series Mad Men from 2007 to 2015.
Breakthrough with Community
From 2009 to 2015, Brie starred as the smart and determined Annie Edison in the sitcom Community. This role made her very popular and earned her a nomination for a Critics' Choice Television Award.
Film and voice acting roles

Brie has acted in many different kinds of movies. She played Sidney Prescott's assistant in the horror movie Scream 4 (2011) and was in the romantic comedy The Five-Year Engagement (2012).
She is also a talented voice actress. She voiced the cheerful Princess Unikitty in the animated hit The Lego Movie (2014) and its sequel, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (2019). From 2014 to 2020, she was the voice of the main character Diane Nguyen in the popular Netflix animated series BoJack Horseman.
Starring in GLOW

From 2017 to 2019, Brie starred as Ruth Wilder in the Netflix series GLOW. The show was about a group of women who become professional wrestlers in the 1980s. Her performance was highly praised and earned her nominations for Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Brie said that working on GLOW made her want to choose more meaningful roles in her career.
Writing and producing
In recent years, Brie has started creating her own projects. She co-wrote, produced, and starred in the drama Horse Girl (2020). She also co-wrote and starred in the romantic comedy Somebody I Used to Know (2023) with her husband, Dave Franco, who directed the film. The movie was a big success on Amazon Prime Video.
Recent and upcoming work
In 2024, Brie starred in the TV miniseries Apples Never Fall. It was also announced that she would play the character Evil-Lyn in the new Masters of the Universe movie.
Personal life

Brie met actor Dave Franco in 2011. They began dating in 2012 and got married on March 13, 2017.
