Emma Stansfield is a talented Welsh actress. She was born as Emma Thompson on January 7, 1978, in Monmouth, Wales. She is well-known for her roles in many television shows.

Emma Stansfield's Early Life and Career

Growing Up and Starting Acting

Emma Stansfield was born to Colin and Gill Thompson. Her parents also trained in acting and ran a local drama group. Emma grew up in Much Birch, England. She knew she wanted to be an actress from a very young age.

When she was 12, Emma played the main character, Oliver Twist, in her school's play Oliver!. Later, at Hereford Sixth Form College, she continued acting. She took on the role of Cherry Barnum in their play Barnum.

Becoming Emma Stansfield

After finishing her studies at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Emma needed to choose a new stage name. This was because another actress named Emma Thompson had already registered her name with the actors' union, Equity. So, she chose the name Emma Stansfield.

Soon after, she got a role in a play called Sparkleshark. Her first TV appearances were in the series Holby City and The Royal. She then performed in her first big London theatre show, Daisy Pulls It Off.

Famous TV Roles

Even though Emma has acted a lot in theatre, she is most famous for playing Veronica 'Ronnie' Clayton. This character was in the popular soap opera Coronation Street. She was on the show from 2005 until 2006.

In 2007, she played Esther Davies in the BBC show Fanny Hill. In 2008, she acted as Elaine Yates in a BBC series. Elaine Yates was the wife of Jess Yates and mother of Paula Yates.

Emma also played an English nurse named Louise in the Irish drama Whistleblower in 2008. In 2010, she was Belinda in the BBC pilot Reunited. She also appeared in The Tudors as Anne Askew.

In 2011, she had a small part in Series 5 of Skins. In 2013, she played Audrey Gulliver in Privates. More recently, in 2020, Emma appeared in a music video for the song "Second" by Sleaford Mods.
