Emmendingen is a special area in western Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It's called a "rural district" (or Landkreis in German). This means it's a region made up of several towns and smaller communities, all working together.
The Emmendingen district shares its borders with a few other districts in Germany. These include Ortenaukreis, Schwarzwald-Baar, and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald. It also touches the big city of Freiburg, which is a district on its own. To the west, Emmendingen even borders France! The French area next to it is called Bas-Rhin. The main town and capital of this district is also named Emmendingen.
