In 2020, about 1,981 people lived here. The community is also known as El Calaboz Rancheria in the San Pedro de Carricitos Land Grant. It is part of the larger Brownsville–Harlingen area.

This community is located in the southwestern part of Cameron County, Texas. It sits near the Rio Grande river, which forms the border between the United States and Mexico.
The area is made up of different parts. El Calaboz is in the western section, and Ranchito is in the eastern section. You can find La Encantada Elementary School in the Ranchito area. The city of Brownsville borders this community to the east and south.
U.S. Route 281 goes through the community. The town of La Paloma is about 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) to the west. Downtown Brownsville is about 14 miles (22.5 kilometers) to the southeast.
