English Gardner (born April 22, 1992) is a super fast American runner! She is a sprinter who is best known for racing in the 100-meter dash. Her fastest time in the 100-meter dash is 10.74 seconds, which she ran in 2016. English has won Olympic gold and silver medals. She has also earned silver medals at the World Championships.

Becoming a Champion Runner
English Gardner was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She grew up in Voorhees Township, New Jersey. She went to Eastern Regional High School. After high school, she ran for the University of Oregon.
College Success
While at the University of Oregon, English became a five-time NCAA champion. The NCAA championships are big college sports events. She won two titles in the 100-meter dash. She also won two titles in the 4×400-meter relay. Plus, she won an indoor 60-meter dash title.
In 2011, she ran the 100 meters in 11.03 seconds. This was a very fast time for a young runner!
Racing Around the World
English Gardner has competed in many important races around the world.
World Championships
In 2013, English qualified for the 2013 World Championships in Athletics in Moscow, Russia. She won the 100-meter race at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships to get there. In Moscow, she finished fourth in the 100 meters. She just missed getting a medal! However, she won a silver medal with the United States team in the 4×100-meter relay.
She also competed in the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China. There, she earned another silver medal in the 4×100-meter relay.
Olympic Games
English Gardner had an amazing performance at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials. She won the 100 meters race with a time of 10.74 seconds. This super-fast time qualified her for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It also made her one of the fastest women ever in the 100 meters!
At the 2016 Rio Olympics, English finished seventh in the 100 meters. But the best part was when she won a gold medal! She was part of the United States team that won the 4×100-meter relay. Their team finished with an incredible time of 41.01 seconds.
She also won a silver medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics (held in 2021) in Tokyo, Japan. This was also in the 4×100-meter relay.
