A Look Back: Enochville's History
Enochville was once an official town. It was one of the oldest towns in Rowan County. The town was first created in 1877. However, it stopped being an official town in 1974.
Why Enochville Lost Its Town Status
For a while, people thought Enochville was still an official town. But its original town rules were actually still active. In 1973, people in Enochville got to vote on whether they wanted to remain an official town. They voted against it, with 84 people saying no and 41 saying yes.
Efforts to Become a Town Again
In 2003, some people wanted Enochville to become an official town again. But a nearby city, Kannapolis, was against this idea. In 2009, a plan to make Enochville a town was brought to the state government. However, the plan did not pass.
Historic Places and Famous People
Near Enochville, you can find two important historic buildings. The Corriher Grange Hall is one of them. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's a special place recognized for its history. The Gen. William Kerr House is another historic property nearby.
Enochville is also the birthplace of Elvia Allman. She was a well-known actress in radio and television during the 1900s.

Students in Enochville attend schools that are part of the Rowan–Salisbury School System. The former Enochville Elementary School was in the area, but it closed in June 2021. Most students now go to South Rowan High School in nearby Landis.
