Enrique Piñeyro (born December 9, 1956, in Genoa, Italy) is an Argentine-Italian former airline pilot. He later became a film actor, producer, film director, and screenplay writer. He also studies plane crashes and is a doctor who specializes in aviation medicine. Piñeyro owns Aquafilms, a company that makes movies in Argentina.

Life Story

Enrique Piñeyro was born in Genoa, Italy, in 1956. His mother, Marcela, was part of the wealthy Rocca family, who own a large industrial company called Techint. Enrique first became a doctor. Then, in 1988, he started working as an airline pilot in Argentina for a company called LAPA. He became a very experienced pilot.

Before a well-known plane crash involving LAPA airlines (LAPA flight 3142), Piñeyro had already shared his worries about the airline's safety rules. After the crash, he became known for talking about his experiences at LAPA, which later closed down.

Piñeyro had acted in movies five times before. In 2004, he starred in his sixth film, Whisky Romeo Zulu, which was also his first movie as a director. This film was partly about his own life and showed his efforts to improve LAPA's safety before the accident. The movie was popular and led to another film, Air Force, Incorporated. This documentary criticized how the Air Force controlled air traffic in Argentina. After this movie came out, the government changed things so the Air Force no longer controlled regular flights.

Some people call Piñeyro "the Michael Moore of Argentina." This is because he often speaks out against government problems, and his movies have helped bring about positive changes. He also wrote and performs in a play called "Volar es humano, aterrizar es divino" (which means "To fly is human, to land is divine"). In this show, he combines aviation stories with comedy. It has been very successful in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and has also been performed in Madrid, Spain, and Milan, Italy.

Piñeyro also helped start Innocence Project Argentina. This is a group that offers free legal help and investigations to people who want to prove they were wrongly found guilty of crimes. They work to fix the reasons why people are wrongly convicted.
