This benchland is between Morgan and Mountain Green. The northern edge of the community has foothills. These hills stretch from Dry Hollow to Roswell Canyon. The total area of Enterprise is about 3.8 square miles (9.8 square kilometers). All of this area is land.

The Story of Enterprise

Enterprise was first settled in 1861. Two brothers, Henry and Stephen Hales, were the first to arrive.

Early Challenges and Solutions

The Hales brothers found good, fertile land. However, there wasn't much water for their crops. To solve this, they dug a 2-mile (3.2 km) ditch. This ditch brought water from the Weber River to their farms. In 1863, a special company was formed. Its goal was to build a canal to water the entire area. Even with the canal, Enterprise often didn't have enough water. Sometimes, people upstream would take water illegally.

Building the Community

The first schoolhouse in Enterprise was built in 1863. In 1865, the community was officially surveyed. This created a town layout with organized blocks. A sawmill also operated in Roswell Canyon during the 1870s. This mill helped cut wood for buildings. In 1880, the government counted the people living in Enterprise. There were 81 residents at that time.
