Entre Ríos is a small town located in the Cochabamba Department of Bolivia. Bolivia is a country in South America.

Where is Entre Ríos?

Entre Ríos is the main town, or capital, of the Entre Ríos Municipality. This municipality was created in 2004. It is the sixth municipal section of Carrasco Province.

The town sits about 240 meters (787 feet) above sea level. It is in the central part of Bolivia. You can find it on the left side of the Ichoa River. This river flows into the Ichilo River about 13 kilometers (8 miles) downstream.

What is the Geography Like?

Entre Ríos is in the lowlands of Bolivia. It is near the eastern foothills of the Cordillera Oriental mountain range.

The weather here is usually warm, with an average temperature of 24°C (75°F). The hottest months are from October to December, averaging 26°C (79°F). The coolest months are June and July, around 20°C (68°F).

This area gets a lot of rain, usually more than 1,000 millimeters (39 inches) per year. The wet season is from November to February. The drier season, with less than 50 millimeters (2 inches) of rain per month, is in July and August.

How to Get Around: Regional Traffic

Entre Ríos is located 265 kilometers (165 miles) east of Cochabamba. Cochabamba is the capital city of the department.

A long state road called Ruta 4 passes through Entre Ríos. This road is about 1,657 kilometers (1,030 miles) long. It stretches across Bolivia from Tambo Quemado on the border with Chile all the way to Puerto Suárez on the border with Brazil.

When traveling from Cochabamba to Entre Ríos, you will pass through towns like Villa Tunari, Chimoré, and Ivirgarzama. East of Entre Ríos, the road continues to Warnes and Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

How Many People Live Here?

The number of people living in Entre Ríos has grown quickly over the last 20 years:

  • 1992: 1,952 people (from a census, which is an official count of the population)
  • 2001: 3,796 people (from another census)
  • 2010: 5,080 people (this is an updated estimate)

Most people in the Entre Ríos Municipality are Quechuas. About 76.6 percent of the people in this area speak the Quechua language.
