Epifanio Obdulio "Epy" Guerrero (born January 3, 1942 – died May 23, 2013) was a very important person in the world of baseball. He was a Dominican baseball scout. A scout is like a talent hunter for sports teams. Epy traveled around, especially in the Dominican Republic, to find young players with amazing baseball skills. He helped more than 50 of these players reach Major League Baseball (MLB), which is the highest level of professional baseball in North America.
Epy was part of a baseball family. His brother, Mario Guerrero, was a professional shortstop. Epy also had two sons, Epy Jr. (Sandy) and Mike, who played and coached baseball in the minor leagues.

Epy Guerrero's Baseball Journey
Epy Guerrero worked for several big baseball teams during his career. He was a coach for the Toronto Blue Jays in 1981. As a scout for the Blue Jays, he found and signed future stars like Tony Fernández and Carlos Delgado. He also strongly suggested that the team draft George Bell.
Many people believe Epy signed more major league players than any other scout in history. Some of the famous players he discovered include All-Stars like Cesar Cedeño, Carlos Delgado, Tony Fernández, Dámaso García, Alfredo Griffin, and José Mesa. These players became very successful thanks to Epy's sharp eye for talent.
Epy's hard work and dedication were recognized with special awards. In October 2008, he was honored by being inducted into the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame. Then, in January 2009, he received a "Legends in Scouting Award" from the Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation. These awards showed how much he meant to the baseball world.
