Ereta Peak is a tall mountain peak in Antarctica. It stands about 2,300 meters (or 7,546 feet) high. You can find it at the very northern end of the Bastien Range, which is part of the Ellsworth Mountains.

This peak has very steep sides, especially on its north and southwest parts. Some of these slopes are not covered in ice. Ereta Peak also looks over the upper part of the Nimitz Glacier to its southeast.

The peak got its name from an ancient town called Ereta. This town was part of the Thracian civilization in what is now northeastern Bulgaria.

Where is Ereta Peak Located?

Ereta Peak is located in a very cold and remote part of Antarctica. Its exact coordinates are 78°31′14.2″S, 86°37′43.6″W.

It is about 12.88 kilometers (8 miles) northwest of a place called Ichev Nunatak. It is also about 19.63 kilometers (12.2 miles) southwest of Mount Gardner. Another famous peak, Mount Vinson, is about 22.5 kilometers (14 miles) to the west of Ereta Peak. Mount Vinson is in the nearby Sentinel Range.

The United States created maps of this area in 1961 and again in 1988.
