Eric Michael Bogosian (born April 24, 1953) is an American actor, writer, and historian. He is known for his plays, especially Talk Radio, and for his roles in TV shows like Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Succession. He also appeared in the movie Uncut Gems.
Eric Bogosian's family came from Armenia. He grew up in Watertown, Massachusetts and Woburn, Massachusetts. He studied at the University of Chicago and Oberlin College. His play Talk Radio was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1987. He also wrote and starred in the 1988 movie version of Talk Radio. For this role, he won a special award called the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.
Besides acting, Eric Bogosian has written several novels. He also wrote a history book called Operation Nemesis. This book is about a secret plan to get justice for the victims of the Armenian genocide. He has won many awards, including three Obie Awards and a Drama Desk Award.

Early life and education
Eric Bogosian was born in Boston, Massachusetts. His mother, Edwina, was a hairdresser, and his father, Henry, was an accountant. He spent his early years in Watertown, Massachusetts. This town had a large Armenian-American community. His grandparents were survivors of the Armenian genocide.
In 1960, his family moved to Woburn, Massachusetts. Eric became interested in theater while attending Woburn Memorial High School. Later, he used his experiences growing up in Woburn to write his play subUrbia. After high school, he went to the University of Chicago and then graduated from Oberlin College.
Acting and writing career
Eric Bogosian is a talented writer and actor. He is famous for his plays like Talk Radio and subUrbia. He is also known for his many one-man shows, where he performs all the characters himself.
In recent years, he has acted on Broadway. He was in the play Time Stands Still. He has also published three novels. Many people know him from his role as Captain Danny Ross in the TV show Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
Stage performances and plays
Between 1980 and 2000, Eric Bogosian created and performed six big one-man shows. These shows were performed Off-Broadway in New York City. He won three Obie Awards and a Drama Desk Award for these performances.
He has also written six plays that have been performed. His play Talk Radio was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1987. In 2007, Talk Radio was brought back to Broadway. Another one of his plays, subUrbia, was performed by the Lincoln Center Theater in 1994.
Eric Bogosian has also acted in plays by other writers. He was in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot and Time Stands Still.
Film roles
Eric Bogosian's play Talk Radio was made into a movie in 1988. He starred in it and won the "Silver Bear" award at the Berlin Film Festival. His play subUrbia was also made into a movie in 1996.
He has appeared in many other movies. These include Under Siege 2: Dark Territory and Wonderland. He has worked with famous directors like Woody Allen and Robert Altman. In 2019, he played Arno in the movie Uncut Gems.
Television appearances
On television, Eric Bogosian is most famous for playing Captain Danny Ross in Law & Order: Criminal Intent. He was in this show from 2006 to 2010.
He has also been a guest star on many other TV dramas. In 1994, he helped create the TV series High Incident. He played Barney Greenwald in the TV movie The Caine Mutiny Court Martial. He was also a recurring character, Lawrence Boyd, in the second season of Billions.
More recently, he appeared in the HBO show Succession as Senator Gil Eavis. He is also part of the main cast of the AMC show Interview with the Vampire. In this show, he plays Daniel Molloy, a reporter who interviews a vampire. He really enjoyed this role because he has always been a fan of vampire stories.
Books written
Eric Bogosian has written three novels. They are called Mall, Wasted Beauty, and Perforated Heart. All his plays are also available in print.
In 2015, he published a history book titled Operation Nemesis: The Secret Plot that Avenged the Armenian Genocide. This book tells the true story of Operation Nemesis. It was a secret plan by a group of Armenians to get justice for the terrible deaths of one and a half million people during the Armenian genocide.
Dance and collaborations
Eric Bogosian helped start a dance series at The Kitchen, an arts center in New York City. He helped many famous choreographers, like Bill T. Jones, present their first concerts in the city. In 2006, he also helped produce a documentary about the New York City Ballet.
He has worked with many other artists on different projects. Since 2016, he has been filming a series called 100monologues.com with his son, Travis Bogosian.
Awards and recognition
Eric Bogosian has won the Obie Award three times. He also won the Drama Desk Award. In 1989, he received the special "Silver Bear" award at the Berlin Film Festival for his acting in the movie Talk Radio. He has also received two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Personal life
In 1980, Eric Bogosian married Jo Anne Bonney. They have two sons named Harry and Travis Bogosian.
