Erick Avari (born Nariman Erick Avari on April 13, 1952) is an Indian-American actor. He is well-known for his roles in science fiction and action movies. You might recognize him from films like Stargate (1994), Independence Day (1996), and The Mummy (1999). He also played a part in the historical TV show The Chosen (2019).

Erick Avari's Early Life
Erick Avari was born in Darjeeling, India, on April 13, 1952. He grew up in a Parsi Zoroastrian family. His father, Eruch Avari, managed two movie theaters. Erick went to North Point School for his early education. He later attended the College of Charleston.
Avari's family has a special connection to movies. His great-great-grandfather, Jamshedji Framji Madan, helped start Indian cinema.
Erick Avari's Acting Career
Erick Avari has had a long and busy acting career. He is one of only two actors to appear in both the original Stargate movie and the TV series Stargate SG-1. He played the character Kasuf in both.
He has played many different kinds of characters. Avari has acted as people from more than 24 different backgrounds. By 2006, he had been in 33 movies and over 70 TV shows.
Famous Roles and Appearances
In the video game Zork Grand Inquisitor, Avari voiced Grand Inquisitor Mir Yannick. This character was the main villain in the game. He also appeared in the TV movie The Librarian: Return to King Solomon's Mines.
In 2006, Avari's voice and picture were used for the character Chandra Suresh in the TV show Heroes. He later appeared on screen in the episode "Seven Minutes to Midnight".
Avari has worked with actor Brent Spiner three times. They were in Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987), Independence Day (1996), and The Master of Disguise (2002). He also acted with Richard Gere in the movie Hachi: A Dog's Tale. In this film, he played Jasjeet, an Indian hot dog seller. In 2001, he was Tival in Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes.
In 2009, he played a mobile-phone salesman in Paul Blart: Mall Cop. He also joined the cast of Days of Our Lives as Omar.
Voice Acting in Video Games
In 2014, Avari lent his voice to Master Rahool in the science fiction video game Destiny. He played this character again in the sequel, Destiny 2, released in 2017.
Recent Work
In 2019, Avari took on the role of Nicodemus in the historical TV series The Chosen. This show is about the life of Jesus Christ. In a 2023 interview, he mentioned that he had mostly retired before this series. He said he is still mostly retired but might have a new project coming up.
