Erick Travez Dampier, born on July 14, 1975, is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He played as a center in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Erick played for several teams, including the Indiana Pacers, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat, and Atlanta Hawks. He was a tall player, standing 6 feet 11 inches (211 cm) and weighing 265 pounds (120 kg).

Erick Dampier's Early Life and College Career
Erick Dampier played basketball at Lawrence County High School in Monticello, Mississippi. He helped his high school team win two state championships. After high school, Dampier played college basketball at Mississippi State University. He was part of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. After his junior year, he decided to enter the 1996 NBA draft. In his last college season, he led Mississippi State to win the Southeastern Conference tournament and reach the NCAA Final Four.
Erick Dampier's Professional Basketball Journey
Playing for the Indiana Pacers (1996–1997)
The Indiana Pacers picked Erick Dampier as the tenth player in the first round of the 1996 NBA draft. In his first year with the Pacers, he played in 72 games. He started 21 of those games. On average, he scored 5.1 points and grabbed 4.1 rebounds per game.
Time with the Golden State Warriors (1997–2004)
On August 12, 1997, Dampier was traded to the Golden State Warriors. He played for the Warriors for seven years, mostly as their starting center. On November 22, 2002, Dampier had a great game, scoring 31 points and getting 14 rebounds. His best season was in 2003–04, where he averaged 12.3 points, 12 rebounds, and 1.85 blocks per game.
Joining the Dallas Mavericks (2004–2010)
On August 24, 2004, Dampier joined the Dallas Mavericks. In his first season with Dallas, he played in 59 games and started 56 of them. He averaged 9.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.85 blocks per game.
Playing for the Miami Heat (2010–2011)
On July 13, 2010, Dampier was traded to the Charlotte Bobcats. However, he was later released by the Bobcats on September 14, 2010. On November 23, 2010, Dampier signed a contract to play for the Miami Heat.
Final Season with the Atlanta Hawks (2012)
Dampier signed a short contract with the Atlanta Hawks on February 9, 2012. He signed another short contract on February 19, 2012. On March 1, 2012, Dampier signed with the Hawks for the rest of that season. This was his last team in the NBA.
