Erick Antonio Pulgar Farfán, born on January 15, 1994, is a professional footballer from Chile. He plays for the Brazilian club Flamengo in the top league, Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. Erick also represents his home country, Chile, on their national football team. He usually plays as a defensive midfielder, which means he helps protect the goal, but he can also play as a defender.

Erick Pulgar's Club Journey
Starting with Deportes Antofagasta
Erick Pulgar was born in Antofagasta, Chile. He started playing football at just six years old for a local club called South West Miramar. When he was 15, he joined a youth championship. There, a professional named Carlos Carcamo invited him to join the youth team of Deportes Antofagasta.
At Antofagasta, Erick played in different positions, including winger and left back. He made his debut for the main team in 2013 and quickly became a regular player. People described him as a tall and fast player who was great at defending and had excellent passing skills. In 2014, he was even named the player of the season!
Moving to Universidad Católica
On June 28, 2014, Erick Pulgar transferred from Deportes Antofagasta to Universidad Católica. This move cost $400,000 US dollars for 70% of his player rights. Erick signed a three-year contract with his new team.
Even though Universidad Católica had a tough 2014-15 season, Erick was their best player. When the new manager, Mario Salas, arrived, Erick started playing as a midfielder.
Playing in Italy with Bologna
On August 20, 2015, Erick moved to Italy to play for Bologna. He signed a four-year deal. He was given the number 5 shirt. In January 2019, Erick extended his contract with Bologna until June 30, 2022.
Joining Fiorentina
On August 9, 2019, Erick Pulgar signed with another Italian club, Fiorentina.
Loan to Galatasaray
On February 3, 2022, Erick went on loan to the Turkish club Galatasaray from Fiorentina. A loan means he played for Galatasaray for a short time before returning to his main club.
Playing for Flamengo in Brazil
On July 29, 2022, Erick Pulgar made a big move to Brazil. He signed with Flamengo from Fiorentina. This transfer cost €3 million. He signed a contract with the Brazilian club that will last until December 2025.
Erick Pulgar's International Career
Erick Pulgar also plays for the Chile national team. At the 2019 Copa America tournament, he scored his first goal for his country. This important goal happened in Chile's first match against Japan.

On August 23, 2020, Erick Pulgar tested positive for COVID-19. He recovered and continued his football career.
