Erik King was born on April 21, 1963. He is an American actor. He is most famous for playing Sergeant James Doakes in the TV show Dexter. He also played Moses Deyell in Oz and Bobby Davidson in Missing Persons.

Early Life and Education
Erik King grew up in Washington, D.C.. His father was a police officer. Erik went to The Duke Ellington High School of Performing Arts. This is a special school for students who want to study arts. After high school, he studied at Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland.
His Acting Journey
Erik King started his acting career in the 1980s. He appeared in many popular TV shows. Some of his early roles were in Matlock, NYPD Blue, and JAG. In 1990, he was in a police drama called Sunset Beat.
He also had a role as Moses Deyell in the HBO series Oz. Later, he appeared in episodes of shows like Malcolm in the Middle, Charmed, and CSI: Miami. He was also in The District and Touched by an Angel.
Erik King has acted in several movies too. You might have seen him in the adventure film National Treasure. He also appeared in the thriller movie Desperate Measures.
Playing Sergeant James Doakes
Erik King became very well-known for his role as Sergeant James Doakes. This was in the Showtime TV series Dexter. He was a police detective who often suspected the main character, Dexter.
He appeared in 24 episodes of the show. He was in the first episode in 2006 and stayed until the end of Season 2 in 2007. His character was a main opponent for Dexter. Because of his great acting, he was nominated for a Saturn Award in 2008. This award was for Best Supporting Actor on Television.
Besides acting, Erik King was also a spokesperson for Michelin tires.
