Ermsdorf (called Iermsdref in Luxembourgish) is a small village in eastern Luxembourg. It used to be its own local government area, called a commune. Ermsdorf is located in the Diekirch canton, which is part of the larger Diekirch district.

As of 2024, about 466 people live in the village of Ermsdorf. In 2011, Ermsdorf joined with another area called Medernach. Together, they formed a new, larger commune named Vallée de l'Ernz.

What is a Former Commune?

A commune is like a local government area or a small district. It has its own local council and mayor. Ermsdorf used to be one of these independent communes.

In 2011, Ermsdorf and Medernach decided to merge. This means they combined to create a single, larger commune. The new commune is called Vallée de l'Ernz. This helps them share resources and work together more easily.
