About Ermua
Ermua is in an area called Durangaldea. It sits in a valley with steep sides. The Río Ego river flows through the town. This river later joins the Deba River. Because the land is very hilly, there is not much space to build. This makes Ermua one of the most crowded towns in the Basque Country.
Nearby Towns and Connections
To the north of Ermua is Mallabia. To the east is Eibar, and to the south is Zaldibar. Eibar is a bigger town right next to Ermua. It is in a different province called Gipuzkoa. These two towns are so close they feel like one big city.
Ermua grew a lot in the 1960s and 1970s. Many people who work in Eibar live in Ermua. Both towns are known for their industries. The N-634 road connects Ermua and Eibar. They also share an exit from the Autopista AP-8 (AP-8). This is a toll road that goes across the Basque Country. It links Bilbao to the French border. You can also travel between Ermua and Eibar by a narrow-gauge railway. This train line runs from Bilbao to San Sebastián.
