Escazú is a district in the Escazú canton, located in the San José province of Costa Rica. It's a well-known area in Costa Rica.

Where is Escazú?
Escazú covers an area of about 4.56 square kilometers. It sits at an elevation of 1,101 meters above sea level.
This district is found on the northeast slopes of the Cerros de Escazú mountains. It is about 9 kilometers west of San José, which is the capital city of Costa Rica. Escazú is in the center of its canton. It borders the Santa Ana Canton to the west. To the north, it borders the San Rafael district. To the south, it borders the San Antonio district.

Escazú is one of the most prosperous places in Costa Rica. You can find many fancy restaurants and shops here. It has some of the most exclusive shopping and dining spots in the country.
One modern shopping area is Avenida Escazú. It has Costa Rica's first IMAX movie theater. Avenida Escazú is an outdoor mall with international stores. You can find brands like Max Mara and Crate and Barrel here. It also has the country's first Starbucks coffee shop. A campus of Texas Tech University is also located here.
Another very luxurious mall in Escazú is Multiplaza. This mall features many big international brands. Some of these include Zara, Armani Exchange, MNG, Guess, Lacoste, Tiffany and Co., Carolina Herrera, Salvatore Ferragamo, and H&M.
Living in Escazú
Many spots in Escazú offer beautiful views. This area is one of the most developed parts of the metropolitan region. It has many apartment buildings and nice neighborhoods.
Over the last few decades, Escazú has become a popular place for people from other countries to live. Several embassies have their ambassadors' homes here. This includes the homes of the US, Dutch, British, German, Canadian, and South Korean Ambassadors. Many new people from North America, South America, and Europe have moved here recently.
The city has many bars and restaurants, often more stylish and expensive ones. Because of this, rents and prices in Escazú are higher. It is known as one of the most upscale places in Costa Rica. Escazú also offers many places that cater to English speakers. These include movie theaters, health clinics, business centers, and a luxury country club.

The football (soccer) club Brujas F.C. started in Escazú. The team's name, "Brujas," means "Witches." This is a nod to the city's nickname, "The City of the Witches." However, the team moved to Desamparados in 2009.
