Eshon Burgundy's Early Life and Challenges

Eshon Burgundy, whose real name is Anton Eshon Hairston, was born in Abington, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with his mother, Rochelle. They moved often when he was young. They eventually settled in a place called Passyunk Homes. Eshon became the oldest and most responsible sibling, looking after his two younger brothers, Seifuddin and Ameer, and his younger sister, Aleema.

When he was 15, Eshon faced a very dangerous situation that almost cost him his life. This experience made him focus on hip hop music. For five years, he was part of the underground hip hop scene in Philadelphia. Around 2000, he signed some record deals, but no music was released from them. In 2001, he became a Christian. He then started making Christian hip hop music in Philadelphia before moving to Jacksonville, Florida.

Eshon Burgundy's Music Journey

Eshon Burgundy's professional music career started in 2007. He was featured on Dj Jazzy Jeff's album Return of the Magnificent. The song was called "Run that back" and also featured poet Black Ice.

Eshon Burgundy released his first album, Blood Rushing to My Head, on July 24, 2012.

His second album, The Fear of God, was released on March 3, 2015. This album was a big success for him. It appeared on several Billboard charts. It reached No. 15 on the Christian Albums chart, No. 20 on the Rap Albums chart, No. 25 on the Independent Albums chart, and No. 4 on the Heatseekers Albums chart.

On May 27, 2016, Eshon Burgundy released his third album, The Passover. This album was inspired by the story of the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt. His fourth album, For the Love of Money, came out on September 20, 2019.

Since late 2020, Burgundy has started to identify as a Hebrew. He believes that he, as a descendant of Black American slaves, is a true Hebrew Israelite. Because of this, he has begun to move away from mainstream Christianity.
