History of Espartinas
The story of Espartinas began a very long time ago, during the time of the Romans. Back then, there were small settlements like Lauretum, Tablante, Paterna, Villalvilla, and Mejina in this area.
How Espartinas Got Its Name
The name "Espartinas" first appeared in the 1200s. This was when King Ferdinand III of Castile took control of many parts of the Guadalquivir river area during a period known as the Reconquista. Later, King Alfonso X of Castile gave the town its official coat of arms, which is a special symbol for the city.
