Esporles (pronounced "es-POR-les") is a charming town and municipality in Spain. It is part of the Balearic Islands, located on the beautiful island of Majorca. You can find it nestled in the Serra de Tramuntana mountains. The town is about 15 kilometers (about 9 miles) from Palma de Mallorca, the capital city.
Esporles is divided into two main parts: Vilavella and Vilanova. It also includes smaller neighborhoods like Ses Rotgetes de Canet and Es Verger. For a long time, people in Esporles mostly worked in agriculture (farming) and animal husbandry (raising animals). You can still see this history at a special farm-museum called La Granja. Today, tourism is the main part of its economy, just like in many other places in the Balearic Islands. The textile industry used to be very important here too. Now, most of the old factory buildings have been turned into homes. One of the biggest factories is now the local library, Sa Fabrica, which opened in 2010.
