Esther Morales Fernández (born August 9, 1985, in Barcelona, Spain) is a talented Spanish swimmer. She competes in the S10 classification, which is for athletes with certain physical impairments. Esther has represented Spain in many important swimming competitions, including the Paralympic Games, where she has won several medals.

Esther Morales was born in Barcelona, Spain, on August 9, 1985. In 2012, she lived in Palma de Mallorca, which is in the Balearic Islands.

Esther's Swimming Career

Esther has had a very successful swimming career. In 2007, she took part in the IDM German Open. At the 2009 IPC European Swimming Championship in Reykjavík, Iceland, Esther and her teammates Sarai Gascón Moreno, Ana Rubio, and Julia Castelló won a bronze medal in the 4x100 meter medley relay race.

In 2010, she competed at the Tenerife International Open. Before the 2010 Adapted Swimming World Championship in the Netherlands, Esther attended a special training camp. This camp was part of the Paralympic High Performance Program (HARP Program). She competed at the 2010 World Swimming Championships held in Eindhoven, Netherlands. There, she reached the finals for the 50 meter freestyle, finishing in fifth place. She also competed in the 100 meter backstroke event.

Esther was one of four Spanish swimmers at the World Championships who were connected with CTEIB. This is an institute created by the Government of the Balearic Islands. It helps provide education to top-performing athletes. Esther, who is from the Catalan region of Spain, also received a Plan ADO scholarship in 2012. In 2013, she represented the Balearic Islands at the Championship of Spain by Autonomous Open Paralympic Swimming.

Paralympic Games Achievements

Esther Morales has competed in several Paralympic Games, which are major international multi-sport events for athletes with disabilities.

  • She competed at the 2000 Summer Paralympics, but did not win a medal that year.
  • At the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, she won two bronze medals! These were for the 50 meter freestyle and the 100 meter backstroke events.
  • She continued her success at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, where she won another bronze medal in the 100 meter backstroke.
  • Esther also competed at the 2012 Summer Paralympics. While she didn't win a medal there, she and her teammates Sarai Gascón Moreno, Teresa Perales, and Isabel Yingüa Hernández finished fourth in the 4x100 meter freestyle relay. She also swam in the 50 meter freestyle event. Her first race at those Games was the 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay.
