Estling Lake is a beautiful lake located in Denville Township, New Jersey. It is home to a small, private summer community. About 60 houses are part of this special place. The Estling Lake Corporation owns the lake and its surrounding area.

The lake gets its water from a stream called Den Brook. From Estling Lake, the water flows over a dam. It then empties into another nearby lake, Indian Lake. If you visit, you might even see a train! New Jersey Transit's Montclair-Boonton Line runs right along the north side of the lake.

Fun at the Hub Lakes

Estling Lake is part of a cool group of lakes known as the "Hub Lakes." People who live around Estling Lake often join in fun sporting events. They compete against residents from other nearby lakes.

Who are the Hub Lakes?

The Hub Lakes community includes many different lakes. Besides Estling Lake, some of the others are Parsippany, White Meadow, Rainbow, Arrowhead, Mountain, Indian, Intervalve, Telemark, Rock Ridge, Lake Valhalla, and Cedar. These lakes form a friendly network.

What kind of events happen?

The Hub Lakes often organize different sports and games. These events bring the communities together. It's a great way for kids and families to meet new friends. They can also enjoy healthy competition.

A Glimpse into History

Long ago, Estling Lake had an "ice house." This building was used to store ice. In the past, people would cut large blocks of ice from the frozen lake in winter. They would then store these blocks in the ice house. This kept the ice frozen for many months. People used the ice to keep food cold before refrigerators were common. The ice house at Estling Lake was destroyed in the early 1900s.
