Eva Isabel Marion Primrose, Countess of Rosebery and Midlothian, was born Eva Bruce on 17 June 1892. She was the daughter of Henry Bruce, 2nd Baron Aberdare and his wife, Constance. Her Family Life
Eva Isabel Marion Bruce first married Algernon Strutt, 3rd Baron Belper on 26 April 1911. They were married in St. Margaret's, Westminster. The couple had three children together:
- Alexander Ronald George, who later became the 4th Baron Belper (born 1912, died 1999)
- Hon. Michael Strutt (born 1914, died 1942)
- Hon. Lavinia Mary Strutt (born 1916, died 1995)
Eva and Algernon divorced in 1922.
She married a second time to Harry Primrose, 6th Earl of Rosebery, on 24 June 1924. They had one son:
Her daughter, Lavinia Strutt, married Bernard Fitzalan-Howard, 16th Duke of Norfolk in 1937. This made Eva the Duke of Norfolk's mother-in-law.
Special Awards and Roles
Eva Primrose had several important roles and received special honours.
- She served as a Justice of the Peace (JP) for Buckinghamshire. A Justice of the Peace is a volunteer who helps with local court duties.
- In 1955, she was given the title of Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE). This is a high honour given by the British monarch for great achievements.
