Evarts is a small, quiet place in central Alberta, Canada. It is not a big city or town, but a community within Red Deer County. You can find it on Township Road 382, east of the Medicine River. It is about 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) south of Benalto and 13 kilometers (8.1 miles) southwest of Sylvan Lake.
Evarts: A Look at Its Past
Evarts was named after Louis P. Evarts, who was one of the first people to settle there. This community became an official village on May 9, 1906. This meant it had its own local government. However, Evarts stopped being a village on May 27, 1916. It went back to being a smaller, unincorporated community.
How Many People Lived in Evarts?
The number of people living in Evarts was always quite small. In 1911, there were 25 people recorded. By 1916, the population had grown slightly to 26 people. Records from Alberta Municipal Affairs also show that in 1914, 18 people lived in the village, and in 1915, there were 22 residents.
