Evin Earl Lewis (born 27 December 1991) is a talented cricketer from Trinidad. He plays for the West Indies team. Evin is a left-handed opening batsman. He is known for hitting the ball very hard in shorter cricket games.
Evin Lewis is one of only three batsmen to score two centuries (100 runs) in T20 International matches. The other two are Brendon McCullum and Chris Gayle. He also holds the record for the highest score by a West Indian in T20 Internationals, with 125 runs not out. Evin was part of the West Indies team that won the 2016 T20 World Cup.
He has played for many different cricket teams around the world. These include the Comilla Victorians and the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. He won titles with both of these teams.

Early Cricket Days
Evin Lewis was born in Rio Claro, Trinidad. He started playing cricket at a young age. He even represented the West Indies under-19s team. This was at the 2010 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand. He played three matches in that tournament. Before that, he played for Trinidad and Tobago in local competitions.
Playing for Teams and Leagues
Evin Lewis made his first-class cricket debut in March 2012. This was for Trinidad and Tobago. Later that year, he played in the 2012 Champions League Twenty20 in South Africa.
Top Performer in Tournaments
In the 2013 Champions League Twenty20 in India, Evin scored 211 runs. He was the top run-scorer for his team. He scored 70 runs from just 35 balls in one match. He also made 62 runs in a semi-final game.
For the 2014 Caribbean Premier League, Evin played for the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel. He scored 321 runs, which was the most for his team. He then joined the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots for the 2015 season. He was one of their top scorers.
Playing Around the World
Later in 2015, Evin played for the Barisal Bulls in the 2015 Bangladesh Premier League. In one match, he scored 101 runs not out. This was the only century in that tournament. He later played for the Dhaka Dynamites and scored another century in 2016.
In the 2017 Caribbean Premier League, he played alongside his mentor Chris Gayle. They opened the batting for the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
He was also chosen to play for the Vancouver Knights. This was in the first 2018 Global T20 Canada tournament.
Recent Team Successes
Evin was part of the Comilla Victorians team that won the 2018–19 Bangladesh Premier League title. They beat the Dhaka Dynamites in the final.
In 2020, he joined the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots again for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League. He later signed with the Rajasthan Royals for the 2021 Indian Premier League. He scored a century against the Trinbago Knight Riders. This helped the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots reach the semifinals of the 2021 Caribbean Premier League. The Patriots, with Evin, went on to win their first CPL title. They defeated the St Lucia Kings in the final.
In February 2022, the Lucknow Super Giants bought him for the 2022 Indian Premier League. He played a very fast innings of 55 runs from 23 balls. This helped his team win their first ever game in the Indian Premier League.
In July 2022, he also played for the Jaffna Kings in the 2022 Lanka Premier League.
International Cricket Career
In March 2016, Evin Lewis joined the West Indies squad. This was for the 2016 ICC World Twenty20. He made his first Twenty20 International (T20I) appearance on March 27, 2016. This match was against Afghanistan.
Memorable T20I Performances
On August 27, 2016, in only his second T20I, Evin scored his first T20I century. This was against India in Florida. He reached 100 runs in just 48 balls. This was the second fastest T20I century by a West Indian. During his innings, he hit five sixes in a single over. The West Indies won that game by just one run. Evin was named the man-of-the-match.
He made his One Day International (ODI) debut for the West Indies on October 5, 2016. This match was against Pakistan. In November 2016, he scored his first ODI century. He made 148 runs against Sri Lanka.
He scored his second T20I century on July 9, 2017. This was against India. He scored 125 runs not out. This was the highest score in a T20I chase. It also made him the third batsman to score two international T20 centuries. His score of 125 not out is also the highest T20I score by a West Indian batsman.
Record-Breaking ODI Innings
On September 27, 2017, Evin scored 176 runs not out in an ODI. This was against England. This was the highest score by any batsman who had to leave the field due to injury in international cricket. His 176 runs was also the fourth highest score by a West Indian in One Day Internationals. Even though his team lost, Evin was still named the man of the match.
In February 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) listed Evin as one of the top ten players to watch. This was before the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournament. In June 2018, he was named the T20 International Cricketer of the Year. This award was given by Cricket West Indies.
In April 2019, he was part of the West Indies' squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. In June 2021, during a series against South Africa, Evin reached 1,000 runs in T20I cricket. In September 2021, Evin was also named in the West Indies' squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
