The Story of Evolution Fresh
Evolution Fresh was started by a person named Jimmy Rosenberg. He founded the company in San Bernardino, California, in 1992. Before this, Jimmy had also started another juice company called Naked Juice in 1983. He later sold Naked Juice to PepsiCo in 2006.
Becoming Part of Starbucks
On November 10, 2011, Evolution Fresh became part of Starbucks Corporation. This meant that Starbucks now owned the company.
Building a Juice Factory
In August 2012, a construction company called Ledcor Group of Companies worked with Starbucks and Evolution Fresh. Their goal was to build a large factory to make and bottle juice. They chose a building in Rancho Cucamonga, California.
The building was very big, about 250,000 square feet. It used to be a dry warehouse. They had to do a lot of work to change it into a modern juice production facility. This included many big renovations and upgrades.
The factory was finished in February 2014. Now, this facility sends many different kinds of bottled fresh juice to Starbucks stores all over the country. It can make about 9 million gallons of juice each year. It also has space to grow and make up to 12 million gallons if needed.
Evolution Fresh Products
Evolution Fresh makes special, high-quality juices. These are called cold-pressed juices. In 2010, the company started using a new way to keep their juices fresh. This method is called Pascalization or High Pressure Processing (HPP).
How High Pressure Processing Works
With HPP, the bottled juice is put under thousands of pounds of pressure. This helps to preserve the juice. It keeps the juice fresh without using heat. Some people believe that heat can change the juice's flavor, color, or even its healthy nutrients.
In 2011, Evolution Fresh used this HPP method for five types of juice. These included Orange, Grapefruit, Lemonade, Apple, and Tangerine juices. This special process allows fresh juice to stay good for up to 40 days on the shelf. Evolution Fresh tries to get their products from the fruit tree to the store shelf in less than 7 days.
