Excello's Past
Excello has been around for a long time. It used to have a different name, "Emerson." A post office opened in Excello way back in 1869. This shows that people have lived and worked in the area for over 150 years!
Where is Excello Located?
Excello is found in southern Macon County, Missouri. It is about 8 miles (13 km) south of a town called Macon. It is also about 16 miles (26 km) north of Moberly. You can find Excello just half a mile west of U.S. Route 63 on State Road T.
Land and Water Features
The Excello area covers about 0.34 square miles (0.88 square kilometers) of land. Only a tiny part, about 0.001 square miles (0.003 square kilometers), is water.
The community sits on high ground. Water from the west side flows towards the East Fork of the Little Chariton River. This river eventually joins the Missouri River. Water from the east side flows towards Hoover Creek. This creek is part of the Salt River system, which flows directly into the mighty Mississippi River.
