Ezzatolah Entezami (born June 21, 1924 – died August 17, 2018) was a very famous actor from Iran. He was known as one of the "five most important actors" in the history of Iranian movies. This was because of his big impact on cinema.
Becoming an Actor
Ezzatolah Entezami started his acting journey on stage in 1941. He went to a special school for theater and movies in Hanover, Germany. He finished his studies there in 1958. After that, he began acting in films in 1969.
His first big movie role was in The Cow. This film was directed by Dariush Mehrjui. Entezami's acting in The Cow was so good that he won an award called the Silver Hugo. He received this award at the Chicago International Film Festival in 1971. In the movie, he played a simple village man. This man loved his cow so much that he couldn't handle it when the cow died. He started to believe he was the cow himself.
His Impact on Iranian Cinema
Entezami became one of the most important actors in Iranian cinema. Many people called him the greatest actor in the history of Iranian movies. He worked with many top Iranian film directors. These included Dariush Mehrjui, Ali Hatami, and Mohsen Makhmalbaf.
He won the Crystal Simorgh award for Best Actor two times. This award is given at the International Fajr Film Festival. He won for his roles in the movies Grand Cinema and The Day of Angel. His amazing work was celebrated in October 2006. This special event took place at the Iran cultural center in Paris.
Family Life
Ezzatolah Entezami's son, Majid Entezami, is also famous. Majid is a talented composer who writes music for movies in Iran.
