Early Life
Faia Younan was born in Al-Hasakah, Syria, in 1992. She grew up in the city of Aleppo. When she was eleven, her family moved to Sweden. Later, in 2010, she moved to Scotland to study at the Glasgow University. She studied subjects like Economics and Business. After finishing her studies, she moved back to Sweden. Faia also volunteered for the Swedish Red Cross and sang at local events.
Music Career
In October 2014, Faia Younan and her sister Rihan made a video called "To Our Countries." They were inspired by the difficult situation in Syria and other Arab countries. The video showed Faia singing songs by the famous Lebanese singer Fairuz. It became very popular online, which encouraged Faia to become a full-time singer.
After this success, Faia decided to release her first song, "Ohebbou Yadayka" (which means "I Love Your Hands"). To make this song, she used crowdfunding. This means many people gave small amounts of money to help her produce it. Because of this, Faia Younan and her manager, Houssam Abdul Khalek, entered the Guinness World Records. She became the first Middle Eastern artist to crowdfund her first song. This also made her the first female artist from the Arab world to be in the Guinness World Records book!
In 2017, Faia released her first album, called A Sea Between Us. She also worked with the virtual band Gorillaz on their song "Busted and Blue (Faia Younan Special)." This song appeared on two versions of their album Humanz.
In March 2019, Faia Younan started releasing her second album, Tales of the Heart. This album has eight songs. Each song is like a unique story or "tale" because it has its own musical style and topic.
