History of Fairview, Ohio
Fairview was officially planned and laid out in 1814. When a town is "platted," it means its streets and lots are drawn on a map before buildings are constructed. The name "Fairview" was chosen because it means something good or pleasing, like a nice view.
A post office opened in Fairview in 1823. This post office helped people send and receive mail for many years. It stayed open for a long time, finally closing its doors in 1991.
